If nothing else, it may convince some people to buy their respective 50 f/1.8 lenses. It took me a while to convince civickid04 that he needed it, and now he uses it all the time.

Its a must for any photographer.

I wanna go with a 50mm f1.2

But, im not spending $1500 on a lens.

Yeah, at $120 shipped for the Nikon (and roughly the same for the Canon, right?) it's a must have. Equivalent quality in lenses of other focal lengths is tough to come by, and if you can find it, it will be BIG money.

Not much point in going for the F1.2, it's only one stop faster than 1.8 and I imagine the DOF at such a big aperture would be on the order of a few millimeters.
