Default Having Problems Sizing Lenses

I recently purchased a Nikon D40 w/ an 18-55x 52MM Lens[filter size]. I've noticed a couple of nice 62MM lenses, w/ various zooms, but wasn't too sure they'd fit the 52MM size. I'm new with SLR cameras and the whole sha'bang, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Although I'm no stranger with editing, bought the camera to be able to snap better/more shots! Love it by the way but check out some work!

62mm and so forth are only the front lens size. they have nothing to do with fitting the body.

if the lens is made for nikon then it will fit your camera. just make sure the lenses are AF-S for the d40

you have to be careful which lenses you buy for the d40 cause have to have the auto focus motor built in otherwise youll be manual focusing

thats why i said make sure they're AF-S (i believe thats what it needs to be)

and yeah the front lens sizes will obviously vary between lenses. i currently have 3 different front lens sizes, 50mm and kit lens are 52mm, the 70-300 is 62, and the 10-20 is 77mm (i think i remembered those sizes correctly lol)
