If you don't mind saying so... the 2nd pics looks to be leaning to the left... well the bridge does anyway. Sort of adds to the distraction of looking up the pillars.

Now that said... I need to go and get some edumacation with HDR... have not done any of those shots yet. Heck!!! not sure I know what it is

Just google HDR. There's a good explanation of the theory on Cambridge in Colour, it's usually one of the first results on google.

start shooting in raw instead of jpgs and you'll be able to rid yourself of that little shaking problem
