Exclamation I Want to buy a cam...Canon D40 or nikon D80?

what's going on here with this 2 cams? since i know i always had a nikon until 5 years ago.I wanna get into pics againg and got to get a new cam.but i am not sure what route to take...i have 2 friends with the canon D40 and a friend just traded his Nikon D80 for a nikon D300...it's the Nikon D80 not as powerfull as the canon D40?i really don't need the 5 or more pics per second,3 is just fine.I'll be taking pics of girls(models)and racing(especially of cars at the race track(drag race) like doing burn outs and standing in two wheels on the take off) what do you guys suggest...Thanxs.

I was thinking XTi or XSi since they are most comparable to the D80, but you are right, he may have been thinking of the 40D.

Quoted from: Camera Labs: Digital Camera, Digital SLR and Lens Reviews, Workshops, News

"Compared to Nikon D80

With the EOS 40D though, there’s no doubt which is the superior camera. In its favour the 40D is tougher, quicker, fires-off frames more than twice as fast, while also featuring Live View, a bigger screen, PC Sync port, anti-dust features and optional accessories including a wireless transmitter. To be fair the Nikon D80’s viewfinder still appears slightly larger and doesn’t charge extra to see a grid through it, but it’s clear the EOS 40D is superior overall. This shouldn’t be a surprise though as Canon’s new body is about 50% more expensive, so while it is a better DSLR, it also reinforces how good value the D80 remains. See our Nikon D80 review for more details."
