Smile Want to start photography....need advice

I'm looking into getting a camera and doing some photography. I love what everyone on this site does and i'd like to try my hand at it.

My question is what kind of camera/equipment should i look at getting?
I dont have a ton of money to spend, so I would like to know what would be the best deal for me to start off with. I can always upgrade later if needed.

So what is the best beginner camera for the price?

All help is appreciated!

My advice: Don't ask us for advice.

If you have deep enough pockets, go for an XTi. They run around 600 now with lens I believe. Or you could even try a D40... but I highly do not recommend this.

You could always go out and buy a more advance P&S such as the S5IS if you don't feel like spending that much dough. The DSLR will be better in the long run though.

It's hard to give advice when you use relative terms to describe your budget. How much are you talking about spending?
