My Sebring shots!!!
First time out there and first time really trying to pan! C&C please! Especially from you Eddie! haha I'm gonna give you a run for your money soon!
Sebring Testing - a set on Flickr
But first off I hate this guy! TWO D3's, 70-200, and a 500mm f/4! I need to work for a good outlet lol
The M3 was awesome.
These guys were quick!
The Mazda sounded SO awesome with the turbo, especially when he went into the turns.

awesome shots! what kind of aperture/ shutter speeds are you using for the panning shots? I am going to an autocross this weekend and I am looking to snap a few pics between runs. any help is greatly appreciated.

Chris, all I did was adjust the levels. I did not do any sharpening with these, I need to tweak my unsharp mask a little more cause I wasnt liking how it was coming out.
The M3 sounds great. They all did, except the Ford GT lol Like I wrote I liked the Mazda's turbooooo ha
I kinda cheated and wanted to get the hang of the panning motion, so I typically left it in aperture, and was right around the range of ~f12-18 I think.

looks like a 200-400 f4. a lens i wish canon would make.

Panning is pretty good Mike! These shots are good representations of the cars but those crops take away from the overall feel of the image. Only #2 and #5 are even remotely entertaining / artistic. Also, try to get "full-frame" images with the car in the bottom half for a better sense of motion. Panning is only part of a good motorsports image, I think framing, background and angle are equally important.
