I read David Busch's nikon d60 guide to digital slr photography and it was a great read. Real in depth about the specific camera. I am not sure if he has a d40 book or not but they are basically the same camera so you could easily get by with the d60 book. I am now reading mastering digital photography by the same author. It has some nice tips and pointers about various shooting conditions. It is really helping a newb like me out.

As of 4:00 this afternoon, I stumbled into a large amount of free time myself.

Good to see you're trying to learn your camera, though. I'll probably do the same with mine.

Damn Mike, that sucks. The construction industry is at its worst right now - if you guys want to look for jobs in Pinellas let me know and I'll get you some names and numbers. You too, Jon.

If you want to meet up and shoot I'm always down Mr. JonLGT.

That sucks about the loss mike. And I agree with Chris, the construction industry is in the absolute shitter. My dad has had to lay off atleast 8 employees... now down to him and one other guy. He used to work from 6AM-6PM. Now he's lucky if he gets to work until 9AM.
