I have a 750gig external that I keep all my pics, movies, and music on I think I might just have to start sorting them by Year-Month-Day then maybe if it's a special occasion or holiday or something I'll add that folder to that day. I assume iPhoto tags the pics so you can search for them easier? Is there any other free software that does the same?

I cant wait to pick up my 1.5TB (its only $150 at Wal-Mart!)
But for real, I'll organize the pics usually by whatever the shoot was. For instance I have a folder for all my shoots with Paul Mitchell then inside that it'll be a folder for whatever that specific shoot was. And same for any cars, weddings and engagements has a folder, people I shoot on the side for fun has a folder...etc etc.

Lately I've just been shooting to get the camera in my hands so I've made a "home" folder for June, with subs in that with the date/location. May be a bit redundant but at least I know where everything is.
