It is a lot of work for a product shot but keep in mind this is a product shot that is on the cover of something that is mass produced and sold, not to mention seen by not only the people who purchase it, but the people that are just browsing through magazines. Plus these images represent the product that they are pushing to have sold. A single product shot yes, but a very important one.
