Default The 35 1.8G works marvelously on FX! pics inside.

I traded my 50 1.4G for this lens and cash. I didnt really like the feel of 50mm on d300 or the d700. I guess the normal length isnt for me. So i thought i would try a little wider. I read reviews of some folks saying they felt the 35 1.8G worked well on the d700, if you dont mind the vignetting. So i went for it.

I must say the color contrast, and speed of this lens is well worth the 200 i spent. It feels contrastier than the 50, and the Focus is waaaaay faster. Sure i do lose 2/3 of a stop, but its worth it.

Its the perfect walk around at night. The vignetting is very manageable.

here are some samples. they were shot at 1.8-2.2

If you were on the fence about it, go for it. Its one of the best bang for the buck that nikon has.

Wow great shots. Are those cropped at all? If not I don't see any vignetting at all. Probably pick it up in the future looking into lights atm.

Just a clarification for my sake, vignetting is when there is almost a black shadow at the corners of a photo right?

Correct. The 35mm is a DX lens for a cropped frame camera 3:2 ratio. Full frame is 4:3 so when you apply a crop frame lens to a full frame camera it creates vignetting.
