Default Pics and short story from today...

So my co-worker tells me he was into photography a long time ago, and did a lot of shooting for the local newspress in Ft. Myers for a long time. He told me he still had a lens that worked perfectly, and a broken camera body that was left over and he would let me look at them. Well I guess he hasn't been up to date with how much lenses cost because he brought me this lens this morning:

17-35mm 2.8f
I immediately get giddy and try and keep it to myself. He tells me that I can borrow it for the weekend and that on Monday we can discuss price. He would like to see $250ish for it. OMG...I want to be so Jewish (I am one before anyone jumps my shit) and nab it, but he's a really good guy, and I just can't do it to him. Although I am sure half of you would've. Anyway, I let him know how much it's really worth, and he decides we will talk about a VERY fair price come Monday. WOOT

Anywho, here are pics I took with it, first time using a SUPER nice lens for me. I know that it's all random people, but I like the candid/natural smiles and photos. I didn't edit. CC is welcome. (Oh and Facebook kills quality, but I am not wasting my flickr, except maybe for one photo in this group.)

And by FAR my favorite. Because I know you don't know him, but he's just like the picture portrays. Probably the most stand up, thoughtful, most kind, old man I know, and he's not even my father.

That's all I got for now.

Doesn't it suck when the people you can screw over are your friends!

That definitely is a nice lens. I like #3 the most. IDK why but he reminds me of Carroll Shelby lol.

Screw you. I'll give him a little bit more than what he tells you so I can has it

Besides, that lens wont be any good on a D3000, only a D300 LOL

B&H still has it for nearly $1800! You better not give him less than a grand!

Used you can pick up the 17-35 for under $1000 if you know where to look. Hell I just unloaded my newer 17-55 f/2.8 for $950.

If you can score that lens for less than $900 I'd still consider it a good buy, while I don't really care for zooms anymore it's one of the sharpest wide zooms nikon makes.

I believe the 17-35 came first, and was eventually replaced by the 17-55, IIRC.
