Nikon d3000? Good? Bad?
It's a great starter camera, and that's the class it needs to stay in. You'll probably be a little dissapointed in the quality if you try and make large prints with it. (Even 8x12 were shitty on mine) Also the noise it produces even at 800 ISO is RIDICULOUS. You'll have lots of grain in your night photos.
I've printed several 8x10's, a 16x20, and two 24x36's and they have all come out crystal clear.
I printed a bunch of 8x10s night shoots crystal clear.. too...

You may want to find out that a lot of Ken Rockwells reviews are bogus. He favors lenses and bodies over others. As well as some things he reviews his hands never even touched. He recommends what he likes and that's it. He's the last person I would listen to.
