Default centrifugal superchargers..

In my opinion i would never supercharge a motor...But of course i am a 4cyl kinda guy and it has been proven that 4 bangers make more power when turbo charged....But it seems to me like they make damn good power on v8's, look at the 03-04 cobras....they haul ass....period.

when breaking down the supercharger , i belive there are 2 types...Roots type(03-04 cobra type) and these bolt directly to the intake manifold , as well as he jackson raicing superchargers...Then there is the centrifugal....i Belive it was developed in the late 80's early 90's buy some dude running in the top alchol class ( right below top fuel ) and he developed a twin s/c kit for his car but he gotted kicked off the nhra because it made the car too fast.....

My question is this...why do the roots type not make as good of power at the centrifugal s/c's? i would think the roots type would make more power since they are directly on the intake mani....

discuss.

he's right, there is more than one type, positive displacement gives it a much broader spectrum.

you have to realize, both have their good and bad positive displacement means your pretty much getting full boost as soon as your on it, and in a perfect world, full boost at idle.

centrifical blowers are like belt driven turbos...more commonly have flat torque curves and linear power bands, they do produce a fair amount of heat. but honestly, a centrifical blower on an automatic big stall, high shift extension car will hold full boost or close to it an entire pass.

i cant justify supercharging a 4cyl due to the fact, it takes 120hp to spin a t-trim to 50,000RPM

discuss.
both can make good power... if im not mistaken, all the big s/c setup's are twin screw... kenne bell for cobra's, AMG s/c on mercedes E55/SL55/S55 etc...
positive displacement blowers have instant boost, huge torque output, and power generated low in the range...
they have a different power curve than a centrifugal s/c... a centrifugal s/c has a linear powerband... it will need maximum rpm's before it makes maximum HP... a good example are the S2000 kits...
