Did some of you bother to read my entire post?

The only reason to go any lower is to reduce the risk of detonation in high compression or forced induction motors.

For that reason I would say it is not lean, but just not rich enough for use under adverse conditions.
A boosting or WOT motor is under adverse conditions IMHO.

In fact I would be willing to bet that most of your factory high output n/a motors are staying in closed loop (which should by right around 14:1 a/f) to somewhere between 75% - 85% throttle.

A turbo would be doing the same up until a certain level but the same idea applies.

The point I was making is that 14:1 is not 'lean' but perfect for the conditions most cars operate at 98% of the time. I have seen no disagreement with this point yet.

I also know when lower numbers are required, but how low and when depend on the motor. So why jump down my throat?

I'm just passing along some wisdom so that some of our TR newbies don't think that you need to be running a 12:1 a/f ratio on their motors under all conditions.

I will let the reliability of your equipment versus my own speak for themselves.
