Ive said it before, and ill say it again:

50 trim is Pump gas king!

whats the point in getting a huge ass turbo if you wont run more than 17 psi??? its assanine. not to mention, some of those turbos dont get cookin till at least 14 psi, and 17 psi is just gonna give a little taste of how good it can get...

Hopefully Dave will man up soon and spin those rollers so we can end this debate.
Actually...

lets assume 16 psi manifold pressure, with a 1.5 psi intercooler pressure drop, so we have 17.5 psi at the comrepssor outlet which is PR of 2.19 (assume 2.20) . now we go and dig up the compressor map and look at it. at PR 2.20 the 50 trim is capable of ~46lb/min. yeah thats good for over 400 wheel HP. now as to why you dont see this?

A: for some reason Honda people dont seem to like the 50 trim...i dont know why...it is a great compressor for up to 400 hp.

B: when was the last time you saw a 50 trim mated to a stage5 and a .82 A/R? remember the compressor is only half of the system. no one mates 50 trims to .82's because you kill the versatility and low flow capability of the wheel. if you are going to run a .82 you might as well run a 60-1 becuase they will mate up well together. a laggy turbine side mated to a compressor that doesnt like to stay out of the surge region at higher boost/lower flow situations.

I have dynoed a SR20DET to 385 hp to the wheels @ 7500 RPM @ 15 psi on a 50 trim with a stage5 wheel and a .63 A/R turbine side. a .82 housing is good for close to 15 Hp peak over a .63...hrmm not so far fetched now is it?

now the 50 trim is CAPABLE, but it is no where near it's best efficiency points. the 60-1 is a much better match to the 400/16psi mark.

as for 350-360....ehh tossup.
