Just pistons? No rods? No bearings? No checking the round on the bore?

Being a smart ass? No. I'm usually never a smart ass on the forums when trying to help people. Suggesting by asking is all. If you're going to open the motor you might as well do forged pistons, forged rods, check the hone, check the roundness of the bore and refresh the bearings to get the correct clearances for the rods

yes. why not call bobby @ S&R and talk to him. they did a bottom build for me . are you the guy that showed up wednesday morning w/ your car on a flatbed asking about S&R and the quality work they do? if your engine is gonna be cracked open you might as well do it all at once. it's not cheap, but it's worth it. do it once,do it right! don't pinch pennies.

I've lost count of the number of boxers under my belt, but as far as the number of builds it's in the dozens, and (knock on wood) none have returned with failure attributable to our work thus far...

There are several variables that would effect the labor time and in turn price. What sort of plan do you have for the bottom end as far as parts go? Has the block been overheated or otherwise damaged? Is the engine in the car or would we be doing the R&I work as well?

Alpha is definitely right about taking care of everything while you're in there granted that it's within budget. Although it may be more expenditure now, you may be happy you did it later on.

I understand that calling across the world can be tricky, we do what we can for our service men and women.
