Default Obd2 & Obd1

Im getting a 96 gsr motor. If Im not mistaken isnt the 96 gsr OBD2? If so does the harness plug into my OBD1 harness at the firewall or do I need to get the whole harness? Im a little lost on the OBD2 & 1 conversion process. Any links to where I can read all about it would also help alot... Thx

the conversion converts your obd2 wire harness at the ECU....basically its a harness thats about 9 inches to a foot long, you plug it into your existing harness at the ecu, then plug the jumper harness into you ecu

does that make sense to you

that part does & I kinda figured that part. My main thing is that the motor is obd2 & the car obd1. If Im not mistaken the harness plugs in at the firewall... Well can I plug the obd2 motor harness into the harness that is in the car witch is obd1?

i see what ur saying now, i don' believe it will plug up because thats what the whole conversion harness is for, i'm not %100 percent sure if it will or not at the firewall tho. what i would do since the car is obd1 is get an obd1 engine harness and dizzy, if you do keep the obd-2 harness your going to have to rewire the dizzy for obd1

wow^ lol
uhhh i hate to break it to you christian but on obd1 cars the harness is completely different and connects in the engine bay to a completely different harness that goes through the fire wall.

so yes i think the easiest way would be use your obd 1 harness. but think you might have to change a few sensors. g/l with the project.
