Watkins Glen update
What a killer weekend....
I'm so tired that some of these days may be off, sorry.
Most of you know the car was beat to crap at Lime Rock and the guys at the shop had only 2 days to repair the bodywork and change engines.
Ran practice on Wednesday, car looked good, was in the top 8 in times.
Getting ready for practice then qualifying on Thursday, during the last few laps the driver called in saying there was some form of problem in the rear of the car, about a lap later the engine lost oil pressure. We missed qualifying while changing the engine and a rear axle, so we would start last.
Friday morning the new engine lost oil pressure, so we had to get the backup car out. We had to install 2 rear axles, all the Grand Am equipment, do some ball park setup and get the car on the track at 6:00pm. The backup car had a so-so engine and the Subi electronics, the primary car uses Bosch, so it was a scramble to get it ready.
Finished 18th in class and left the track at about 11:30.
We did run the whole race, doing pit stops, race strategy and all that so it wasn't a complete loss, we finished 1 lap down. We were actually pretty happy with the primary car's lap times, especially at the Glen but there were just too many obstacles to overcome.
