What kind of air intake do you have Billy?
I have the MRT CAI, but I also plan on sticking with the TMIC.
May I ask why you chose TMIC over FMIC?
For my purposes and intended uses for the car (auto-x and the occasional drag strip visit) I didn't see the need to go with a FMIC and have to deal with the resulting pressure drop.
The length of the pipe on the TMIC just can't be beat. I mean it is a little more then 12" from the turbo to the intercooler and only 2" from the intercooler to the intake manifold :) |
But if a Rex is not being built for auto-x, more of a street machine and occasional drag racer. FMIC should be fine right?
Oh yeah, either one is fine. I was just willing to sacrafice some of the benefits of the FMIC to stay away from the pressure drop.
if it's more for streets and occasional drags then FMIC should be fine....my mrt fmic comes with the mrt short ram intake deal and if he wants to buy the pump too then i can sell it all to him for $1075 negot.

ok...a FMIC is just like a flat intake right? but doesnt water affect it?(sorry)
duuuude...you should check out turbos for newbs...lol..just jokin'!
nah, goes....turbo to pipe to intercooler to pipe to throttle body. the intercooler just 'spreads' the air out and since air rushed through the fins it gets cooled. some are more effective than others...ie side mount vs. top mount vs front mount but also have their downsides...like more lag, less efficiency, etc. there are air to water intercoolers, basically water runs throught the intercooler in sep. pipes i believe and cools the intake temps while the car might not be going fast enough. like it'd probably be a better 1/4 mile intercooler oppsed to an air to air intercooler where the car must be moving at speed to cool the boost.... if i'm wrong about anything, please correct me...sankyou |
