*Project Log* SC400 1uzfe to W58 5sp conversion
Well I guess it is time to let the cat out of the bag on this one. Some of you know I have been working with Jake from UZA70.com - Your Toyota V8 Source! on my project....
Basically I plan on making the SC400, which never came manual, into a full fledged gear shifting luxury torque monster.
So to get the ball rolling, here is the list of what I need/have.
Bold means it was purchased.
Transmission - OEM 1995 Supra MK4 W58
Adapter Plate - UZA70 Aluminum W58>1UZ
Throwout Bearing - Howe Racing 82870
Pedals - OEM Supra MK3
Driveshaft - OEM SC300 Manual Driveshaft
Shifter - Ebay Short Throw shifter
Shift Knob - Vibrant CF Ball
Clutch Kit - UZA70 Sprung 4 pad spring Dual Friction / 1800lbs Pressure Plate
Hydro Lines - UZA70 SS Lines with bleeders
Flywheel - UZA70 Aluminum - In the process of being made
Shift Boot - OEM Toyota Console Trim/Boot
Flywheel Bolts - OEM Toyota
Rear Main - OEM Toyota
Still Need...
Misc M10 and M12 Bolts from Ace
Gear Oil
Brake Fluid
This list will update with this type of information.
=============================================
Lets continue with the items needed to make this work.
Transmission - The heart and soul...1995 W58 out of a Supra MK4. Any year SC300 or MK4 Supra will work however. As you can see this transmission has the external shift linkage (so I can use an aftermarket shifter)
Adapter Plate - Well you are not getting too far without having the transmission bolt up to the engine... UZA70 has made the adapter plate for this.
Throwout Bearing/Slave Cylinder and Clutch Lines - Since this setup does not use a fork because the adapter plate bolts up to the auto bellhousing, I must use the Howe setup.
Driveshaft - OEM SC300 Manual driveshaft.
Clutch Kit - This was custom setup. Dual friction (Kevlar and Metallic compound) 4 puck SPRUNG clutch with a 1800lbs pressure plate. Came with pilot bearing and alignment tool.
Shifter setup - Ebay short shifter and Vibrant shift knob,
And thats all for now.

nice project, question that tranny looks like a soarer tranny r154 cause the w58 the bearing carrier is made out of aluminum not steel?anyway have fun with the swap that is the cool part about it............Omar
It is from a MK4 Supra seen it in person. He bought it from a guy that put a 6 speed tranny in the car and sold the W58.
