The car scene should be fun and for the Keystone Motor Club in Tampa, it still is. They have a special theme every month and the summer shenanigans are worth mentioning here. They are not afraid of rain or heat, they don’t close down.

July brought on the heat wave, but the Club stays cool but dipping their feet in the grassy field beside the show. A sprinkler system from an underground well provides ice cold and clean water to dip the feet into. They encourage flip flops and Hawaiian shirts. This month’s grand door prize was a real and authentic dashboard hula doll....no joke.

At the registration table,......... by the way the show is free,......... has 96 pounds of ice for bottled water and a do-it-yourself root beer floats. One member donated souvenir umbrella straws (just like the beach drinks) plus spoons & napkins. All this was free to attending car show people.


Remembrance photos can be taken on a “simulated cruise ship” with a beach backdrop plus free Hawaiian leis and a two loaner hats to mark the occasion. By now if you are not feeling like you’re in the tropics, at 11am there is a ceremonial “pouring of the sand” to get the party started.If you want to experience a cruise-in like no other, with a fun bunch of car enthusiasts, stop by on the third Saturday of each month between 10am-1pm at Fox’s Corner, 16921 Gunn Hwy, 33556, Odessa/Tampa

There will be classic 50's, 60's and antique cars on display plus a junior dragster driver signing autographs. You can have your family's picture taken together with any of our cars. We anticipate 4,000 guests this year. Booths are free to vendors. All vendors must have some activity for children or families. This is Veteran's Day weekend and we will have a special tribute to our American heroes.

At Keystones Friday Night Cruisein at Tropical Smoothies on Nov 4, Robert Pluess
rode his Ducati over before heading to FloraBama, plus a couple Mustangs, Mark Stickel's
55 Chevy, a Chevy Nova, a Karman Ghia and several street cars who did not sign in. The Friday Night Special is 50% off the Large 24 OZ Smoothie. Take a picture of your car in the lot and show it to the cashier to get the special Car Show Price ....and even on Friday nights when I can't be there. We are straight across Citrus Park Drive from Smokey Bones, North side of the street,and one block West of the elevated Upper Tampa Bay Trail.

Thinking philosophically again.....
Like the tree that falls in the forest without an ear to hear the sound,
we still hear the music...even when our radio is no longer on.....and we remember....and we once again have that 3rd Saturday urge pulling us to just drive by Keystone again and see who's there. And the time we spent there...and the friendships we made.... these are the best of times..........

For the JAN 21 2023 Chili Cook Off, I have been informed that Frank Salerno has entered, and defending Champion from 2022, Mechiel Kalbach is returning. Plus we had two people verbally commit at the Nov 17 meeting, and a 5th person entered Monday night late...and I'm thinking that I need to get more and bigger trophies.

A gentle reminder...JAN 21 2023 is Keystones 2nd Annual No Entry Fee Open to Anyone Chili Cook Off. 930AM early roll in. 16921 Gunn Hwy 33556 at Yellow Bird Art Studios.

It will be another great day! Mechiel Kalbach returns as defending Chili Champion. Bob Mantler, Holly and Speedy lee, Frank Salerno, Ken Legasse, Beth Burnette, Yellow Bird Studios-Lorie, and a publicly anonymous verbal-entrant....lol.....all will have the best Chili you have ever tasted
and I hope all of you win! lol

We will need an additional Scorekeeper for the Jan 21 Chili contest.

On Facebook's "Keystone Motor Car Club", (over 180 members)... Dan and Gail Holsen posted a picture of the visiting Oldsmobile Car Club....12 people and the dog, by gosh!
Their Olds-usual meeting place is Oldsmar...named after guess who? Some of them had that look that said
"I'm coming back JAN 21 and I'm going to eat some of that Cook Off Chili !" lol

A few OLDS people who signed in were Dave Schmitt, Don Miller, Pat Higgins, Sylvie Neverkin, Rick Whissel and Jim Black. Some of the cars were Christmas-decorated! Not all signed in. Those who signed in were eligible to win the club participation award of $56 (this time) Last month we paid out $79., a couple gift certificates and Best Of Show Trophy.

Any time another car club drives over, we give them a few moments to promote their
club, promote their next event, and pretty much anything they want to, in addition to placing flyers on the seat of every car in the lot. We hope your club event makes some money for
you ! We do this also for clubs of Corvettes, Mustangs. and ALL car clubs. Early roll in is 930AM. 16921 Gunn Hwy 33556 Odessa/Tampa/Keystone at Yellow Bird Studios Parking lot.

Frank Salerno had the nicest huge RED Christmas wreath on the hood of his white Porsche 911. He said he would not drive over 70 with it on the hood. Was that a promise, Frank?
He also had some very tiny Christmas lights around the inside windshield....nice.

38 people signed in and about 60-80 people just came in to hang out with friends.
I asked one person what he drove over. He says: "Oh, I didn't bring a car. I just drove the Jeep"
I said: "Well buddy, if it's got a motor, this is the Keystone Motor Club and YOU ARE IN!"
