And before anyone flips out, I am not knocking heavily modified crazy cars in any way. My comment was specifically pointed at the logic of "I am finally impressed with the Evo", based on this video.

There is a big difference btwn the 7second gutted ecko with slicks backed by a million dollar corporation and a full weight street evo owned by an employe at a performance company.

I agree. Hence me saying "on a different level".

It is the same base formula though. Pick any car. Beef it up. Drop in power adders. Break shit. Fix shit better. Turn it up a notch. Ta da, fast car. I don't care if it's 3200lbs. It can be done. Always. And it continues to be done with every car that comes out and has any enthusiast base.

Don't jump to conclusions -- I think it's fucking GREAT. I would love even a 350whp Evo with a nice flat torque curve. My point, which I thought I had stated pretty clearly, is in regard to this particular car putting someone over the line to "be impressed with Evos". The person is finally making a judgment call on "Evos" (note the generality) based on one that has an absolute minimum of $20,000 and hundreds of hours put into it.

I have to somewhat question the use of a GT42R on the EVO as well. The only thing I can guess is that they are going to spray it sometime.

The GT42R is a large frame turbo, the GT40R is not. There is NO variation of the GT40R that is bigger than the GT42R, that is simply misinformation.

The GT40R comes with a 88mm excducer compressor wheel, the GT42R you can get with a 94mm or 102mm compressor.

The GT42R is freaking huge.

Also Tapps car uses nitrous, the AMS evo does not for their run. Worth noting.

Thankfully someone replied in the same manor that I would have, it took patience, but someone pointed out the sense in all this

Also true they use a 60 shot, but if you figure it, AMS has 775FWHP and Tapp has 729 FWHP on the front wheel drive dyno's.

Tapp runs 30psi and AMS runs 39psi.......I think the 40R is plenty Turbo and the 42R is overkill......on that note, there both shop cars and have financiall backing....

If you want to know the truth about the matter, neither one really impresses me, I am more impressed with the local young guys working there ass off in supermarkets and what ever they might do and squeeze every little penny out on the cars running 12's and faster, thats impressive. People that has real downtime because they have to save to buy the next part they need....no thats a real enthusiest..but opinions are like assholes
