no the cop didnt deserve it at all what happened to him and god bless him but he just made a costly mistake it happens

I heard about this story but never saw the video until now. Yeah he never should have turned his back on the suspect especially since he is obviously not being too cooperative. It could have gone both ways... without the OC spray, the suspect could have shot him at point blank which more than likely, would have had the current outcome. The intent of the OC spray was more than likely to boost the officer's safety and prevent the suspect from fleeing/ shooting but in this case once again that's not what happened. Everyone looking back agrees that it was a stupid and costly mistake on the officer's part but until you know all the details or you are put into the same situation, I don't believe you have any right to say he deserved it. These videos make great training material so that something like this doesn't happen again.

Get the fuck out of the car and lay down. Cuff them then sort it out.

Cop blew it and sadly paid for it.

Or maybe they were undercover gay lovers and the cop caught him with another man and was pissed. So he sprayed him with the pepper spray.

Pretty interesting. If you read the final report PDF above, there is testimony from the passenger in the car. According to him, and it matches the longer video, the killer left the first pull-over spot in order to get to his uncle's place down the road where there would be witnesses (due to the previous run-in the officer and the killer had). He tried calling several people on his cell phone.

When he was pulled over the second time (trying to get to his uncle's), you see him motioning to the cop that he wanted them all to go to his uncle's property where there would be witnesses. The cop obviously denied that request (as is his right).

And most interesting in this is that the killer supposedly requested (according to the testimony) a DIFFERENT OFFICER (his right) due to his previous run-in with this guy. The officer denied the request.

It just goes to show you, although nobody ever really seems to remember it each time something like this is posted... there's always LOTS more to the story than it seems.

What looks like some total dickhead evading the law to be a prick or hide something was actually a guy who had requested a different officer, was denied it, and was trying to get to his uncle's place where there could be witnesses to whatever was going to happen.

It doesn't excuse totally fipping out and shooting at anyone, but details are everything.
