ZR1 beats Skyline GTR's record time at the "ring"
Probably public knowledge by now that a GM engineer driving a brand new factory stock ZR1 with pump gas and street tires at the Nurburgring Norschleife in Germany schooled Nissan's brand new Skyline GTR and its test drivers just a few days after Nissan celebrated its new production car record.
Here is the video of GM's brand new record setting run at the Ring in case you haven't seen it, amazing!

Sick video! I would honestly expect it to beat the GTR.
ZR1: 620hp/595tq, 3324lbs, power/weight=.1865, hp/liter=100
GTR: 480hp/430tq, 3680lbs, power/weight=.1304, hp/liter=126.3158
I can't wait to see what the lightweight GTR can do. I suspect it will best that time with less power.

Yea, as I've said before. The GT-R isn't in the same class as the zr1...everyone just seemed to compare them. I'd LOVE to see the GT-R without the slicks. It would be close to the z06 then
Or better yet, see the ZR1 with them. I honestly think the two shouldn't be compared. Too few similarities. I look at the ZR1 and see a damn near track ready car. I look at the GTR and see a regular car with fancy styling and decent power.

Holy crap. My source for the curb weight for the GTR and the ZR1 was a little shy. Definitely pushes things further in favor of the ZR1 between the two.
I wonder why they ranked them like that as well.
