Its running a Nissan R200 rear end. The car was built by InlinePro - leaders in the S2000 turbo scene. The offer the rear end conversion kit for sale along with pretty much everything that car is shown with. Granted, they're not by any means cheap - but they make amazing quality products that take the S2000 from being a "good" sports car to almost supercar levels. Drive a stock S2000 and you'll see how good it is.. I can't even imagine my car with 400+rwhp, nonetheless 5-6-700+.

At the end of the day its nice having forged internals (HG change to reduce CR and you're good for a lot of boost) - but its the rear end/tranny that has trouble keeping up (pumpkin doesn't like anything past 350rwhp or so, tranny in the 600+ range - which is why this car in the video blew out 1st gear after 3 passes).

Im glad this S2000 exists to get all the domestic guys all butthurt since its pretty much cooler all the way around than a drag Mustang or whatever, but this straight line stuff does nothing for me. The S2000 is far more capable on a road course than a drag strip, but it just goes to show anything can be made fast with enough R&D.

InlinePRO

How is that "epic"? Its neccessary. Have you ever crawled under an S2000? The pumpkin is about the size of an R180 if that and is by far the weakest part of the car. Honda added a "CDV" (Clutch delay valve) on the 2004+ S2000s that slips the clutch on hard shifts to reduce strain on the differential.

I would love to do the R200 swap in my S... Nissan can build a rear end for sure. The R200 VLSD in my 240Z (from Z31) - took a serious beating and never quit. Unfortunately InlinePROs kit runs around $3K?, which doesn't include the pumpkin. Still, in a high HP car it'd be worth it.
