On the edge of space, a mining ship, The Ezekiel, finds an uncharted planet that reveals signs of a possible fuel resource. Two crew members undertake a mission to the desolate rock to take samples for later analysis. The mission goes well until they unearth a dark and terrifying truth.

One day, one day this shall be our fate and it will not be man who picks through our remains but visitors from across the stars and as they clutch our dusty bones in their hands and stare in awe they will question who we were and what happened to us but all they shall be met with is silence.

The only sound they will hear is are the echo's of ghosts on the wind as it blows through the decaying ruins of our long dead race never knowing that it was we who doomed ourselves to eternal silence.

That might be what they were trying to imply. We will wipe ourselves out that is for sure. Then our replacements may have just enough time to evolve, develop intelligence enough to Copy what we leave behind, and leave earth in search of a new home. Just think how excited our replacements will be when they go to the moon for the first time. They’ll find our moon buggy from the Apollo days parked, “with the keys still in it.”

Every discovery will motivate them that much more, and they will make it off Earth where we could not. They would be more motivated to leave. Some day they may even forget where they came from. Accidentally wonder back like they did in this film. They rediscovered their roots.
