The LQ4 is the 6.0 truck motor. Its the easiest,cheapest route to gaining some cubic inches with an LS1. The iron block can be bored using standard procedures any machine shop can do. The Aluminum is sleeved and cost a bunch to increase bore size. The Iron block is approx 75 lb more than the aluminum but probably good for 1000 hp. So for a serious effort on a budget it makes good sense.
Mine is not a direct swap from LS1 to LQ4. The motor has forged internals, offset ground heat treated crank and comes to 383 ci. Heads are stage II ARE heads and an MTI R1 cam. All bolt ons and some nitrous. Motor sits at 430 rwhp all motor now but will be a bit more due to my package that was deliverd yesterday. That same package will allow safe use of 200+ shot of nitrous. The final configuration is still undetermined. But 650 rwhp and 10.4s at 135 is the minumum goal. Daily driver.
