Z-Fever's S14 Pro Drift car build. VQ35TT and G35 front end- AMAZING car!
We started sponsoring a local drifter named Sean Forrester this year in his S13 w. SR20DET swap. He is a great driver and we know the SR like no other. We got such a tremendous response from the local drift circuit here we decided to build ourselves a company drift car and to campaign it regionally. When we started we purchased an S14 chassis with a cage in it already and some glass. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GONE. a TOTALLY GUTTED CAR.
We were invited to run the car at the St Pete Grand Prix in their drift expo and that was only 4 short weeks away. This the build from that 4 week period. Everything you see was done in that time frame.
We started by putting used suspension on it so that it would roll. It had nothing and was sitting on the frame. Then we painted the interior and engine bay:
Then we started swapping in the VQ35DE. We use and sell Mckinney Motorsports VQ35 mount kit:
Then we installed Greddy TD05 turbo and Greddy manifolds. When we installed the Tial wastegates and the Greddy downpipes we found out how poorly it fit into the S14 chassis and had to re-make the transmission tunnel:
Did you happen to notice that we had the caps to the wastegates anodized. They came blue from Greddy.
We had to notch the R-frame rail and re-fabricate and secure it:
Then we re-made the tunnel to fit the turbos, wastegates, and downpipes:
Then we made the front inner tubs:
Then we decided we wanted to really do something unique so we started fitting an 08 Infiniti G35 Sedan front end to our S14 drifter (not an easy task):
We cut off the body sheet metal from the strut towers forward but kept the frame rails in tact. We also made supports for the wheel tubs:
Then we started working on the suspension and brakes. We made our own short steering knuckles for the front:
The finished product after powder coating:
Pulled the front X-member and took it apart, sent it all out for powder coating:
Then we made our own power brace, installed a new rack w/ new bushings, and installed everything in all 4 corners w/ Tein Flex Coilovers, and Suspension Tecniques sway bays all powder coated in purple or Silver metallic to match:
Oh, and did I mention the custom brakes we used???? We purchased a set of 8-piston Brembos from an 09 Nissan GTR. We used 15" rotors and machined our own mounting brackets. I think you will agree that it looks rather impressive:
Then we went back to work on the engine. We made custom polished aluminum valve covers, Custom coil covers with our logo's engraved in them, custom Kinetix upper plenum, polished front timing cover, purple pulleys, powder coated the engine and trans mounts, and made custom fuel rails with 800cc Power Enterprise injectors:
All stainless braided hoses throughout:
Then we made the custom fuel system:
12 gallon tank, dual Walbro 255 fuel pumps, swirl pot, and an Aeromotive FPR:
Then we finished the rear body work. Origin Lab 60mm rear over fenders, Extreme Dimension rear bumper, and our own custom made 77" dry carbon wing mounted on custom adjustable aluminum brackets. All made here in house!
Then it was off to the the wrap shop to have a custom wrap applied. It was done by SWAT WORKS here in Tampa. They did a great job and started on it at 3am in the morning because we had to be on the track the next day by noon.
Here is the finished product. I am sure I am leaving a ton of detail out like the custom 19" x 12" Volk's with +2 offsets That Sharp Customs in Tampa custom powder coated for us. He did all this coating every day for us as we brought stuff to him. The guy is awesome!
These are our many sponsors that helped us get this car built. They gave us parts and services and without them we could not have gotten the car done in time.
We did all the wiring here in house with our custom VQ35swap harness and ECU tune service. We are running the Osiris ROM tune software and the car made 435whp on a stock block. You can get more info about this work from VQ35swap.com.
